Govin Permanand is a Research Officer in Health and Pharmaceutical
policy at LSE Health & Social Care, an interdisciplinary
research unit at the London School of Economics (LSE). Current
work includes participation in a network for monitoring the
impact of globalisation and trade agreements on access to
essential drugs (under the auspices of the World Health Organization)
and the establishment of a clearinghouse on pharmaceutical
reimbursement and pricing policies for the WHO Regional Office
for Europe.
Govin is the former
associate editor of the health policy journal Eurohealth’s
annual Special Issue, which looks at health care system reform
in the countries of East and Central Europe and Central Asia,
and the editor of the European Observatory on Health Care
System’s newsletter Euro Observer. Other work includes
participation in an EU project (Leonardo da Vinci programme)
on assessing training needs in health economics and management,
and work as an analyst for a consulting firm in London. Govin
holds a PhD in political science and an MSc (Econ) from the
LSE, and BA (Hons) in political philosophy and French from
the University of Western Ontario, Canada.
